Girls’ Education program from 2006-07 academic year to 2016-17. Back in 2006 when Chandelao did not have a higher secondary girls’ school, girls had to drop out since getting higher education involved sending them to the next village. There were a lot of safety concerns so Chandelao Vikas Sansthan decided to sponsor an arrangement where a driver would drop all the girls at the school in the nearby village and pick them up after school. This was continued for 10 years from 2007 to 2017 until a higher secondary girls’ school was started in Chandelao.

‘Cleanliness is next to Godliness’. One of the most important projects undertaken by the Chandelao Vikas Sansthan involved building and providing aid for building toilets in Chandelao. More than 100 toilets were built under the Sansthan’s supervision. These involved both, community and domestic use sanitation facilities. Their maintenance and upkeep are undertaken jointly by the people of the village and the Chandelao Vikas Sansthan.

The people of Chandelao need every opportunity to prepare them to face the world. And the Computer Education Center was a step in that direction. The Center was started in 2013 by -----. It has 30 computers with an instructor. Anybody in the village can enroll in a program. Around 500 people of various age groups and from various backgrounds have benefitted from learning at the center. It also teaches the requisite course for employment with the state government,i.e RS-CIT by RKCL. Chandelao Vikas Sansthan has more ambitions for the Computer Education Center in the future.

Trees are our lungs and we can never have too many of those. So, in a beautification drive and as a measure to increase the green cover in Chandelao, 500 trees were planted around the local lake. And in an attempt to help and preserve the ecosystem, only local indigenous flora was planted. The project also involved cutting and getting rid of weeds and wild acacia trees. These trees lend a picturesque frame to an already scenic and quaint lake.

In a further push and nudge to women’s education, a sponsorship/scholarship is provided by the Chandelao Vikas Sansthan for any eligible female candidate from Chandelao who wishes to pursue their higher education. Various courses that have been undertaken under this sponsorship program include the nursing training course, Bachelor of Education, Bachelor of Arts, etc.

A special project was commissioned and carried out in 2004-2005 to help the farmers and the villagers better utilize the excess rainwater that usually accumulates in the fields during monsoon season. Small water channels were drawn from the fields and an eventual canal was constructed to carry all the extra water to the nearby lake. This has immensely helped the availability of water year-round.
Furthermore, water tank constructions were done at the government schools in Chandelao to facilitate rainwater harvesting and encourage more citizens to do the same. Solar Power- Chandelao Vikas Sansthan helped train women from the village, from Sunderrang and otherwise, regarding solar-powered light installation, its working, and maintenance.
